A report from Talk Sport suggests that Roma may be forced to sell one of their most prized assets – Daniele De Rossi in the January transfer window.
This comes after the club announced losses of £47 million and a shareholder for the them said it would be ‘commercial suicide’ if the Serie A outfit did not sell De Rossi.
Although the midfielder signed a new contract in February, his future has been placed in doubt after the Serie A giants seem to be in a bit of a financial crisis and one of the only ways out of this could be to sell their star man.
Also, reports suggest that De Rossi has had a falling out with the manager of Roma, Zdenek Zeman and that has only increased his chances of leaving the Stadio Olimpico in the New Year.
This news is sure to put long-time admires Manchester City on red alert and they may take advantage of the Italian club’s situation and bring in highly-rated midfielder in January.
It looks as though this season City really need someone with De Rossi’s passion and grit in the middle of the pitch and the English Premier League champions will do all they can to secure his services.
