Lampard wanted by Monaco

The Daily Mail is reporting that former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri will look to sign Frank Lampard in the summer transfer window for his current side, Monaco.

The Ligue 2 outfit have been linked with a number of big players recently and it seems as though the Italian manager wants to bring the midfielder to France.

He of course signed Lampard for Chelsea from West Ham United back in 2001 for £11 million and although he was fired from Stamford Bridge in 2004, the England international still has a lot of respect for his former boss.

It is looking increasingly likely that the 34-year-old will be on his way out of the Bridge in the summer as his contract runs-out and he does not look like getting a new one.

He could even agree a pre-contract agreement with a new club in January, but he may wish to stay in the English Premier League.

Lampard’s children live in London, so he is sure to be reluctant to move away from them, but could see Monaco as a final challenge in his extremely successful career.

It is certainly a story to keep an eye on and it could develop over the next few weeks.
