With the football season now back underway, teams from across the Football League are vying to get off to an impressive start to their new campaigns. With another weekend of excitement ahead, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your Saturday accumulators.

Saturday 18th August

15:00 BST Everton vs Southampton

Starting with the hosts, although Everton did appear to be struggling to adjust to life under Marco Silva following from a tough pre-season, The Toffees invested well on transfer deadline day and there is an air of confidence around Goodison Park. Bringing in the Barcelona trio of Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne, the former Watford coach is coming off the back of a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Wolves on their opening Premier League matchup. With £40 million man Richarlison hitting the ground running and scoring both goals last weekend, Marco Silva’s side are taking shape and The Blues have their sights on fighting for European football this year. As for Southampton, although The Saints were able to have a full pre-season under Mark Hughes, the visitors have struggled and some believe they could be in for a relegation battle once again. Picking up a 0-0 draw against Burnley on their opening weekend, a match where they were heavily outplayed and created few opportunities, Saturday could be another tricky afternoon for the former Stoke boss.

Tip: Home win @ 19/20

15:00 Ipswich vs Aston Villa

Well, although there were several concerns about the financial state of Aston Villa just a month ago, the board at Villa Park have sorted all their issues and Steve Bruce’s side have started the new season brightly. More impressively able to keep hold of talisman Jack Grealish, The Clarets are coming off the back of a 1-0 win over Yeovil that booked their spot in the next round of the EFL Cup. Now winning their lat four matches on the bounce and finding the net nine times on their winning run, Villa are tipped as a contender once again and should fancy their chances of picking up a fifth straight win on Saturday. As for the hosts, although The Blues brought in highly rated boss Paul Clarke from Shrewsbury earlier in the summer, Ipswich came crashing out of the Cup at the hands of lower league Exeter and they have now failed to win any of their last four. Backing Villa to carry on their impressive form seems like the safest bet here.

Tip: Away win @ 21/20

15:00 Bristol City vs Middlesbrough

Although it took penalties to come past Notts County in the EFL Cup in midweek, Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough side have started their new Championship campaign brightly and are tipped by many to bounce back to the Premier League next season. Now unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions and scoring nine times, one man to watch for Boro will be winger Marcus Braithwaite. Playing alongside Brit Assombalonga, the Norwegian international has scored two in his first three Championship appearances. Braithwaite and Co should feel confident about carrying on their recent goalscoring record on Saturday. Hosting Pulis’ side this weekend are a Bristol City side who after losing last years top scorer Bobby Reid and captain Aiden Flint have been drastically short of form. Another Championship side that crashed out of the Cup at the hands of lower league opposition, The Reds have now failed to win any of their last seven and have now not recorded a clean sheet since the middle of April.

Tip: Away win @ 13/8

15:00 Leeds vs Rotherham

Under the guidance of former Argentina boss Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds have transformed into the Championships standout side. With the hosts coming off the back of a 2-1 win over Bolton in midweek, Leeds have now won their last five matches on the bounce and their form in the final third has continued to catch the eye. Scoring 14 in their last five, including a 3-1 win over Stoke and thumping Frank Lampard’s Derby side 4-1, one man who has epitomized Leeds recent turn of fortune is forward Kemar Roofe. Picking up the Man of the Match in both of their Championship matches this year, the 25-year-old now has two in his last two. Up against a Rotherham side who shipped five against Brentford on the opening weekend and with just one clean sheet in their last five, we’re backing Roofe to carry on his impressive run of form.

Tip: Kemar Roofe to score anytime @ 1/1
