AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate has predicted big things for youngster Mattia De Sciglio.
The 20-year-old added 10 appearances for the Rossoneri’s first team this season to the three he made the previous campaign as he established himself as a valuable member of the squad.
Abate, warned, however, that De Sciglio still has a long way to go and has a lot of hard work ahead of him.
“Mattia is doing well, he is growing both defensively and offensively,” he told AC Milan’s television channel.
“But now comes the hard part. He has a good head on his shoulders, though, and is definitely a player going places.
“I think the competition is normal in a great team – it would be a problem if there wasn’t any.”
Abate also had a word on Milan’s recent resurgence in form, which has seen them go three games unbeaten in Serie A.
“We are in a positive period at the moment, we have to try and make the most of it and claim as many points as possible,” he said.
“We lost so many games and too many away from home, but we will try to give our best between now and Christmas.”
