Saint-Etienne are mourning the death of former goalkeeper Claude Abbes who has passed away at the age of 80. Abbes will be fondly remembered by the Ligue 1 club having won one league title and one French Cup with Les Verts, in 1957 and 1962 respectively.
A St-Etienne player for ten years, he was also capped nine times by France and appeared at the 1958 FIFA World Cup where the national team finished third.
