(GSM) – The President of the Italian FA Giancarlo Abete favours both Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli and Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti for the Italy job to replace present coach Marcello Lippi.

Abete would like to make an announcement before the World Cup about who will coach Italy after the finals in South Africa.

“We will overcome the hurdles linked to the Italy job before June 8 and the departure to South Africa,” Abete said.

“One thing’s certain and that is this: beyond technical aspects, the Italy boss must possess transversal values and be in a position to unite everyone because he is everyone’s Coach,” The President of the Italian FA added.

“Up until Lippi decides not to continue in his post, we have no preference for any Italian Coach: on the other hand we have also re-called Lippi,” he described about Lippi’s job.

Pressed on possible successors and whether he actually does have any preferences, Abete said: “Cesare Prandelli is a Coach who I like. I have always said that he is a very prepared Coach. But there are others like him.

“Carlo Ancelotti comes to mind. He has shown his qualities by winning the Premier League with Chelsea,” Italian Chief explained.
