Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is said to be stalling on Chelsea’s bid of £40 million for Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero, with the Russian reluctant to splash out on such a high fee that would break the British transfer record for a player signed.
On top of a £40 million fee Aguero is likely to demand annual wages of around £6 million, meaning a five year deal would cost the London club an extra £30 million.
The Daily Star reports: “A source close to Abramovich said: “Roman hasn’t decided yet on Aguero. It is an awful lot of money to pay and he is not going to rush into it.—
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has refused to comment on the matter however, instead focusing on the prospects of striking duo Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini with the pair likely to be involved in January whils the African Cup of Nations takes place.
“We have two boys with a great future – Sturridge and Borini. Borini is a very, very, very interesting 19-year-old from Bologna.†said the Italian coach.

Come on Roman…what’s the hold up?
He has youth, he has flare, he is smart…and I think he proved a lot in our last Champions League meeting with Atletico.
Chelsea need to be infused with youth…we are getting very creaky!
