Adebayor prices himself out of Marseille deal

Emmanuel Adebayor’s proposed transfer to Marseille has fallen through because of the player’s huge wage demands, according to La Provence.

The former Arsenal forward international has been made available for sale by Roberto Mancini despite his promising loan spell at Santiago Bernabeu.

Nonetheless, it is now clear that he won’t be moving to Marseille even  though his agents have held initial talks with the French giants.

The 27-year-old is earning €160,000 a week at City and is not willing to take a significant pay cut, which saw Marseille pull out of the race.

The Togolese has enjoyed a very successful spell at Real Madrid last season, but los Blancos didn’t excercise the option to make the transfer permanent for €15 million.

Zenit and Juventus have also been mentioned as interested clubs, but Adebayor has ruled out a move to Russia earlier this week.
