Moroccan newspaper Lions de L’Atlas has learned that Benfica midfielder Adel Taarabt is considering a move to the Middle East.

The former QPR star has met with Al Ahli representatives and he is now seriously thinking about accepting the offer from the UAE side.

Taarabt joined Benfica in the summer hoping to kick-start his career in Portugal, but his spell at Estadio da Luz has been largely disappointing so far.

After failing to make a single appearance for the senior side, the Moroccan was relegated to the reserves, where he scored one goal in five league outings.

And with Taarabt highly unlikely to play himself back into the first team plans of head coach Rui Vitoria, a January exit appears on the cards.

The 26-year-old was predicted a bright career in the game not so long ago, and he has nobody else to blame but himself for the recent struggles.
