Adrien Silva to be rewarded for failed Leicester switch

Portuguese media outlet O Jogo understands that Sporting CP plan to reward key player Adrien Silva with a new and improved deal.

The highly rated footballer was on the verge of joining Premier League champions Leicester City on transfer deadline day, but the Lions ultimately puled the plug on the deal having previously cashed in on Joao Mario and Islam Slimani.

As a way of saying thanks to their star footballer for accepting to remain at Estadio Jose Alvalade, the club chiefs have decided to offer Adrien a significant pay rise.

Even though it won’t be long before the central midfielder leaves the Lions for greener pastures, Sporting CP bosses want him to give his best before he quits, and they are hoping said salary increase will have a positive effect on his performances this season.

Adrien Silva has been a regular starter for both club and country for quite some time and he made 4 appearances at the tournament finals as Portugal won the Euro 2016 trophy.
