Singapore got their AFF Suzuki Cup campaign off to the perfect start when they thrashed defending champions Malaysia 3-0 on Sunday.

Two goals in five minutes from captain Shahril Ishak and one from Aleksandar Duric helped Singapore to a comfortable victory.

Joint host nation Malaysia will be looking to fare better in their next Group B match against Laos while Singapore face Indonesia.

Elsewhere, a last minute goal from Vendry Mofu salvaged a draw for co-hosts Indonesia against Laos.

A Khampeng penalty gave Laos the lead, but Indonesia’s Raphael Maitimo equalised before the break.

Laos got ahead once more via Keoviengphet Liththideth but Mofu’s strike in the 89th minute ensured Indonesia a share of the points.
