Agent rules out January exit for Matthijs de Ligt

Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt will not be moving clubs in the winter transfer window, according to his official representative.

The 18-year-old has largely impressed since coming through the youth ranks at Amsterdam ArenA and he already has 22 Eredivisie appearances to his name.

De Ligt has performed admirably after nailing down a regular starting berth, and now top European clubs are casting admiring glances his way.

Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are believed to be leading the chase at the moment, but the player’s agent has virtually ruled out a winter exit for his client.

“We intend to stay at Ajax at least until next summer,” agent Barry Hulshoff told Ziggo Sport.

De Ligt was handed his Netherlands debut in the March qualifier against Bulgaria and he also started the friendly game against Morocco in May.
