David Villa’s future is in the hands of Barcelona, according to his agent Victor Onate.
The Spain international has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Arsenal mooted as potential destinations for the ex-Valencia man, who has reportedly become tired of a bit-part role at Camp Nou.
But the managing director of VOS Marketing – who represent the Barca forward – insisted Villa will respect the contract he has signed unless Barca allow him to leave.
“There is always speculation about David because he is a great forward, but his future is in the hands of Barcelona,” Onate told Sky Sports.
“They have a contract and it is important to always respect such documents.”
The 31-year-old’s deal with the Catalans runs until 2014 and it would still come as a surprise if Tito Vilanova sanctioned the departure of the striker in the January transfer window.
