The Dutch classic between Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenoord Rotterdam ended in a 2-0 win to the home side. Both goals were scored in the second half.

Feyenoord did keep up with their arch rivals in the opening phase of the match, but Ajax slowly gained control later on. Six minutes after the interval, Belgian Thomas Vermaelen scored the opener for 1-0.

To avoid late surprises, Urby Emanuelson added another for 2-0, one minute into added time. Not much earlier, Feyenoord’s Dwight Tiendalli was sent off for having conceded two yellow cards.

FC Twente successfully defended their second place with a 2-1 win over FC Volendam. Paul de Lange did give the visitors an unexpected lead from the spot on six minutes, but Marko Arnautovic equalised for Twente in the 28th.

The winning goal came six minutes later, when Blaise N’Kufo netted from the penalty spot.

The gap between leaders AZ and Twente now stands at nine points. Ajax follow at another three.
