Ajax expects summer moves for Van der Wiel

Manchester City and Chelsea are reportedly set for a bidding war for Ajax star Gregory Van Der Wiel in the summer.

Ajax turned down moves for the 22-year-old in the January transfer window.

Chelsea and City were impressed at Van Der Wiel’s performances at last summer’s World Cup and are ready to go to war for the signing of the right-back.

“We had to keep Gregory in January but in the summer we shall see,” a source at Ajax told talkSPORT.

“If there is a big bid from a team then it’s only natural we’d have to discuss it like we did with Luis Suarez.”
