Ajax are a big step closer to the top of the Dutch Eredivisie following a convincing 4-1 win over PSV Eindhoven on Sunday.

Ajax dominated the match from the start and got the opening goal through Siem de Jong in the 28th minute. Another 15 minutes later, a well-performed strike from Urby Emanuelson doubled the advantage.

Marko Pantelic, anonymous throughout most of the match, confirmed his presence five minutes after the hour when scoring for 3-0.

The tension returned momentarily in the 82nd minute as Balazs Dzsudzsak converted a penalty, but Ajax captain Luis Suarez made an end to all doubts eight minutes later, 4-1.

Ajax remain in third place but the gap with PSV is just one point. Next week, PSV host leaders Twente who are now five points clear. Ajax face an easier task against last-placed RKC.
