Aleksandar Mitrovic poised for permanent Fulham stay

The on-fire Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic could remain at Fulham even after his loan deal with the Championship side expires this summer.

The Newcastle United reject joined Fulham during the January transfer window and embarked on a scoring spree which saw him bag 12 goals in 16 Championship appearances, singlehandedly pushing the Cottagers towards the Premier League promotion.

British media now reports that Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic – the architect behind Mitrovic’s loan deal – is pushing to make his compatriot’s deal permanent.

Sitting third in the Championship table and with top-tier football in sight, Jokanovic is keen to strengthen his squad during the summer. Fulham boss is also said to be eyeing Mitrovic’s Newcastle teammates Dwight Gayle in a potential double deal with Newcastle.

Gayle managed 5 goals in 32 Premier League matches this season, failing to recreate the last season’s form and could very well be on his way out of the Rafa Benitez’s squad.
