Alex nears PSG exit

French daily newspaper L’Equipe has suggested that Brazilian defender Alex could be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current campaign.

The Brazilian stopper is still considered a first team regular at Parc des Princes, but his current contract is due to expire in June 2014.

And with summer signing Marquinhos proving his worth and the club likely to further reinforce the back line next summer, Alex might not be offered a contract extension.

The fact that he occupies a non-EU place in the squad is also unlikely to aid his chances of staying at Parc des Princes.

PSG officials are reportedly looking to rejuvenate the back line in the near future and they could decide to sacrifice the Brazilian.

Alex joined the Saints in a €5 million deal from Chelsea in January 2012 and has since featured in 51 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 4 goals and winning one league title in the process.
