Standard de Liege did what they were supposed to do on Saturday, beating Sporting Club Lokeren 1-0, leaving Anderlecht obliged to win on Sunday in order to remain in shared first place.
The only goal at the match between Standard and Lokeren was scored by Christian Benteke after just six minutes.
Anderlecht face a tough challenge against third-placed Club Brugge on Sunday. The Brussels outfit are favorites to win though and haven’t lost a league home game to Brugge since 1998.
Brugge themselves are practically out of contention for the Belgian title.
