Joe Allen lauded Liverpool’s character and was delighted to have an impact off the bench as his late equaliser saw his side draw 3-3 against Arsenal in a Premier League classic.
Allen was introduced late on at Anfield on Wednesday and side-footed in a 90th-minute leveller for Jurgen Klopp’s men after Christian Benteke’s knockdown header.
The 25-year-old praised his team-mates for their fight after they gave up the lead twice before having to battle back to earn a point.
“I think that’s testament to the characters we’ve got in the dressing room,” Allen told BT Sport.
“We’ve got that attitude of going to the final whistle. Obviously we had some setbacks in the game, to be ahead and then throw it away a little bit with some disappointing goals was a shame.
“But we kept at it and thankfully we come away with something.”
Roberto Firmino scored a brace for the hosts, but Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud cancelled his efforts out.
Giroud’s smart finish 10 minutes into the second half put the Premier League leaders ahead for the first time, only for Allen to level late.
“It’s nice to come on and have an influence on the game,” Allen said. “Thankfully it went in and we shared the points.”
