Alves set for Premier League switch

The Express understands that Manchester United and Liverpool are both readying moves for Barcelona’s Dani Alves, after he claimed that he is heading to England next year.

The 31 year old had been linked with a Premier League switch in the summer, but decided to remain with the Catalan club for a seventh season.

Alves moved to Spain in 2002, and spent six years with Sevilla prior to his move to Barca where he has made over three hundred appearances in all competitions, scoring twenty goals.

During his time at the Nou Camp, he has won four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey’s, Champions League titles and two World Club cups.

Internationally, he has seventy-nine caps for Brazil, four of which came at this summer’s finals where the hosts crashed out in the semi-finals.

Barcelona currently sit on top of the table after taking sixteen points from their opening six games, and can be backed at 10/11 to be crowned champions.
