Carlo Ancelotti believes Kevin Gameiro can cover the loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic for PSG’s Coupe de France tie with Toulouse.
The Swedish striker is out after picking up his third booking in 10 matches but the PSG manager believes Gameiro can successfully deputise despite starting only three Ligue 1 games this season.
“We have the players to replace Zlatan. Ibrahimovic is very important for us but we also have strikers like (Kevin) Gameiro who hasn’t played a lot,” Ancelotti said.
“Gameiro can play well and replace him. He scored six (five) goals in the league. We are not worried because Ibra is out.
“I think the team will still be competitive. The Coupe de France is important for us. We want to do our best.”
PSG will be looking to improve on last season’s disappointing showing in the Coupe de France, when they were knocked out by Lyon in the quarter-finals.
PSG have won their past six league meetings while Ibrahimovic has scored a league-best 19 goals.
