Ancelotti expecting PSG response

Carlo Ancelotti wants Paris Saint-Germain to add style to go with their substance, starting with a win over Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night.

The French side beat their Croatian opponents 2-0 on away in their last Champions League clash and face them again this week with the hope of taking a significant step towards qualification for the knockout stage.

The cash-rich club have had an excellent start on all fronts this season but Ancelotti is well aware that the quality of their play has left a little to be desired at times.

“We haven’t played outstanding football so far this season, but we have played very well at times,” he told reporters.

“We reached some kind of balance, and that’s where the results come from. What’s important now is to display more continuity.

“We have won nine out of our 12 fixtures so the results are here, even if the quality of our football isn’t incredible.”

Dinamo Zagreb have had a tough time in the Champions League this season and are yet to secure a single point in their first three group stage matches, but Ancelotti defended their inclusion.

“Dinamo deserve to be playing this competition,” the ex-Chelsea boss insisted.

“Dinamo came through the qualifying rounds, so they deserve respect, and if they haven’t scored yet, we can only hope this will continue against us.

“PSG’s goal is to qualify for the next round. We could still win the group – we’ll see how things stand after this game.”
