Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti feels his side will gain a vital confidence boost after their 6-1 win against Galatasaray on Tuesday.

A second-half hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo propelled the Spanish side to an impressive victory in their opening Group B game in the UEFA Champions League.

Karim Benzema (twice) and Isco also found the back of the net in Istanbul, with 30-year-old striker Umut Bulut grabbed a late consolation for the hosts.

Ancelotti beamed: “It’s a fantastic result.

“It’s true that we suffered a bit in the first half, above all at the start of the game.

“Isco scored which calmed us a lot and after that the game changed and things became easier for us.

“We managed the game well, especially on the counter attack. When Cristiano (Ronaldo) and (Karim) Benzema have good nights it’s easier.

“The result is great for us, good for boosting our confidence, personality and character.

“When you win at this stadium, where there is a lot of pressure, it’s a good thing.”
