Ancelotti livid with Sakho red card

PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti has taken aim at Ligue 1 referee Clement Turpin after another red card marred Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Montpellier.

Defender Mamadou Sakho was harshly sent off just 10 minutes into the clash but is not the first PSG player to draw the ire of Turpin, who also sent off Ezequiel Lavezzi, and later Ancelotti, against Ajaccio in August.

The Italian insisted the decision made it almost impossible for his side to beat the reigning champions and suggested Turpin had a prob

“It was a good match, a difficult match because we played with 10 players for over an hour,” Ancelotti said.

“The team played well, worked well together and were well organised with a lot of energy.

“But, in the end it was too difficult because the red card for Sakho came after 10 minutes. To play 60 minutes with 10 players was not easy.”

Asked if Turpin had targeted his side, Ancelotti said the facts spoke for themselves.

“What do I have to think? With this referee, we had three red cards, two against Ajaccio, me, (Ezequiel) Lavezzi and (Mamadou) Sakho. I think maybe his mistake is the red card,” he said.

“The same for (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic (against Saint-Etienne) – maybe it should have been a yellow card.

“But the thing is when there is a doubt, it’s always a red card. Tonight yellow card or red card? And finally he gives red card.

“I want more respect. I want more respect because I think everybody needs to be more attentive.

“Now Ibrahimovic is suspended for two matches, we did not say anything. Sakho must face the board tomorrow. Why? I don’t know. Tonight, red card, penalty: stop. It’s time to say ‘stop’.”
