Lucas Andersen’s impressive breakthrough into the Ajax first team this season has seen the 20-year-old earn a new contract until 2018.

The Denmark midfielder – who made his international debut in November – has become a regular in Frank De Boer’s side this season after being used sparingly in previous campaigns.

“I think it goes well with my development,” Andersen said of his new deal. “At Ajax I can achieve a lot.

“It is nice that many key players have renewed their contract. My aim is to be one of them. With this group, we can still achieve great things.

“I have played a lot this season and find that I am a ten times better player than last year. But I must even better, and will work even harder to pull through my development.

“You have not seen the best of Lucas yet.”
