Aquilani accepts pay cut to join Fiorentina

Fiorentina are on the verge of completing a loan move for Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Viola have opened negotiations with Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, but the player’s lucrative wages have proven to be a stumbling block to any potential deal.

However, Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Liverpool are now ready to loan Aquilani to Fiorentina for €1 million, with the Italian club having the option to make the transfer permanent for €11 million.

The Italy international has reportedly agreed to a major pay cut so as to help the deal go through.

He currently earns €3.6 million per season, but is willing to accept €2.2 million per campaign offered by Fiorentina.

Aquilani could become Viola’s third signing within the last few days, after Gianni Munari and Andrea Lazzari arrived from Palermo and Cagliari respectively.
