Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Venezuelan midfielder Juan Arango was on Tuesday banned for four matches after being sent off in his side’s 3-2 defeat at Hoffenheim on Sunday.

Arango was shown a red card in the 62nd minute of the Bundesliga match after kicking out at Hoffenheim’s Sejad Salihovic while lying on the ground and catching him in the lower abdomen.

The disciplinary commission of the German Football Federation (DFB) revealed that Arango and his club had decided not to appeal against the punishment.

Arango’s team-mate Roel Brouwers, however, had his suspension reduced from four matches to three, following his dismissal for a wild foul on Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in Gladbach’s 2-2 draw with Schalke on September 25.
