Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder Juan Arango insists he is not worried by the competition he will face from the club’s recent signings.
The Bundesliga side have been busy during the close-season, bringing in Raffael from Dynamo Kiev and Max Kruse from SC Freiburg – both of whom can play in Arango’s attacking midfield position.
But the Venezuela international is happy to see Lucien Favre strengthen the squad, as Gladbach look to improve on last season’s eighth-place finish.
“They are very good players and excellent reinforcements. Raffael’s football quality is clear. Kruse had a great season in Freiburg,” he told Bild.
“I love competition and I look forward to playing with two creative colleagues. Every professional is satisfied when a team is strengthened. So, as I was looking forward to (playing with) Marco Reus, I’m looking forward to Raffa and Max.”
Arango also explained his desperate need for a break following a gruelling 2012-13 campaign with Gladbach.
“It was the first time in 13 years that I really had leave. I have played and had only one week’s break almost every year with the Copa America or World Cup Qualifiers. Now I’m totally relaxed and in top shape,” he added.
The 33-year-old made 41 appearances in all competitions last term, scoring nine goals and providing 14 assists.
