Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa was delighted with the 1-0 La Liga win at Getafe on Saturday.
A Sergio Ramos goal proved the difference at the Coliseum, and Arbeloa was pleased with the final result, although he felt Madrid could have scored more.
“It is a very important victory because it’s always hard for us to score here. We took three very important points that bring us closer to our objective,” Arbeloa told the club’s website.
“We were unlucky not to score from the other two or three clear chances we had, but the team did well overall.”
“We know we are efficient at scoring goals, but it’s also important to keep a clean sheet in games in which we don’t score many, like tonight’s (for Saturday).”
Meanwhile, Real assistant coach Aitor Karanka said the win was never in doubt.
“This victory is important because it was a complicated match against a difficult opponent and the weather didn’t help either,” the former Madrid defender told the website.
“We gave a very good performance and were never in danger of losing the advantage. We would have scored more goals if we’d done better in our chances.”
“We have many players with character and strong personalities, and these games show it. It wasn’t easy to win here and we did well to keep the final score.”
Madrid, who remain seven points clear of Barcelona at the top of the table, return to action against Levante on February 12.
