(GSM) – Independiente remained top of the Argentine Clausura on Saturday after a 1-0 victory over Chacarita Juniors. Estudiantes also stayed in the top five with a 2-0 win over Newell’s Old Boys.
It was a fourth-minute goal by Eduardo Tuzzio that gave Independiente their victory on Saturday, as they withstood decent pressure from Chacarita to stay atop the table.
They have a two-point edge over Godoy Cruz, who won their match on Friday.
Estudiantes are fifth in the league after their win over Newell’s, who slipped to eighth in the table.
A Nahuel Roselli own goal gifted the home side the lead just before the half-time whistle, and Mauro Boselli made it 2-0 in the 58th minute as he continued his hot play this season.
