Arsenal add Koulibaly to their summer shopping list

Premier League giants Arsenal signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January in an attempt to fix their attacking problems, and minimise the impact of losing the talismanic Alexis Sanchez. The new faces also convinced Mesut Ozil to stay put, but there are still problems for the Gunners.

It is defensively that Arsene Wenger’s side have been struggling, and they are the worst defensive side in the top seven so far this season. With that in mind it is little surprise that the veteran coach is looking ahead to the summer transfer window in order to bolster his back line.

The man he wants is Napoli centre half Kalidou Koulibaly, according to the Express, who has been an integral part of the defence that has helped lead the Serie A club to the top of the Italian top flight.

Koulibaly has featured 24 times this season, and has contributed four goals and an assist, despite being a central defender. The Senegalese international’s physicality and pace would make him an excellent addition to Arsenal’s squad.
