Arsenal agree £16m deal for Sokratis Papastathopoulos

Premier League giants Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, according to BBC Sport.

The Gunners reportedly had a £16 million bid accepted for the player who has just one year left on his contract.

Papastathopoulos should bring experience and stability to the Arsenal back line having performed admirably during the five years with Borussia Dortmund.

The Gunners have turned their attention towards signing experienced footballers who can fit right into the squad and they are also closing in on soon-to-be free agent Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Meanwhile, with Laurent Koscielny out through injury, Sokratis Papastathopoulos will be given a chance to nail down a regular starting berth.
