Arsenal and Newcastle show interest in another Barca wonder kid

Reports in Spain suggest another Barcelona wonder-kid could be leaving for the Premiership. Spanish Under-19 international Iago Falque, a product of the Barcelona academy has been told he is surplus requirements at the club according to Setanta Sports.

The Barcelona B team player shone under Josep Guardiola last season, but was told by new coach Luis Enrique he has no future at the club. His agent, Fernando Segui is believed to be looking for a new club for the 18-year old midfielder.

Reports claim moving to England is the youngster’s top priority, after seeing Cesc Fabregas, Gerard Pique Fran Merida and Gio Dos Santos thrive across the Channel. Newcastle and Arsenal have been rumored to be monitoring the player.

“We are going to meet the club to speak about the situation,” Segui declared.

The Spain Under-19 international’s future destination is yet to be announced, but he already understands he might never play at Camp Nou.

“If he is a wonderkid and shone last season, why would anyone in their right minde want to get rid of him?”

I’m sure the same question was asked when Fabregas and Pique left the club as young teenagers. Look at both now – Fabregas a superstar and Pique sold back to Barcelona from Man Utd.

It’s not easy to be given a chance as a local talent for a team of Barcelona’s nature. Too much pressure and politics involved that say Barcelona must win at least La Liga every season.

If he is a wonderkid and shone last season, why would anyone in their right minde want to get rid of him? Sure Barca has a lot of top quality players, but surely they could hang on to him even if they didn’t really want to? Hopefully he’ll go the Arsenal like Fabregas, maybe he’ll prefer North London to the Toon, especially since Arsenal and Barcelona have similar styles, not to mention the good business they seem to continually do with each other.
