Long-serving Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has suffered a heart attack and is recovering in hospital.
Hill-Wood, who succeeded his father Denis as the club’s chairman in 1982, was taken to hospital on Friday after falling ill at home.
The 76-year-old is recuperating and making a good recovery, according to a statement released from Arsenal.
“He is recovering after suffering a heart attack, following a bout of pneumonia.
“Peter was taken ill at home on Friday and is currently being treated in hospital. He is making a good recovery.
“The club wishes Peter a full and speedy return to health and our thoughts are with him and his family at this time.”
The news adds to an already difficult week for the club after they fell to their first league defeat at home to Swansea since 1982, losing 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
