Arsenal join race for Al-Habsi

Daily Mirror has suggested that Arsenal could make a January bid for Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

The Oman international has been impressing fans and pundits alike with some impressive saves over the last couple of years, and it appears it is only a matter of time before he will join a bigger club.

Liverpool were believed to be pondering a move for the 30-year-old, although Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal are also keen.

Arsene Wenger is looking to sign an experienced goalkeeper to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny after he was not impressed by the showings of his back-up Vito Mannone.

The French manager has been following Al-Habsi for over a year now, and could spend some of the hefty transfer kitty at his disposal to try and bring him to the Emirates.

Since joining the club from Bolton, the keeper from Oman has made 84 Premier League appearances for the Latics.
