The Daily Mail claims that Arsenal have targeted VfB Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez as a replacement for the possible outgoing Emmanuel Adebayor.
The German is apparently a major target for Arsenal, and finished his season in German in fine form; scoring 19 goals to finish second in the German Bundesliga scoring charts behind Luca Toni.
Gomez, 22, has represented the German national side nine times during his career, scoring six times. The German/Spanish striker is under contract untill 2012 at Stuttgart, however he may be able to leave the Mercedes-Benz-Arena for as little as £10 million.
Arsene Wenger may see this price tag as a bargain for Arsenal, as Gomez certainly has the potential to succeed at Arsenal. And with Adebayor possibly set to leave the Emirates, Gomez could emerge as an ideal replacement for the Togolese.
