Arsenal are set to challenge Premier League rivals Liverpool for the signature of Lazio forward Balde Diao Keita, Daily Express can reveal.
The Reds were believed to be leading the chase for the highly rated footballer, and they reportedly had a £16 million bid rejected for the player in the summer transfer window.
While Lazio were initially holding out for £24 million, they seem to have lowered the asking price, which has alerted Arsenal, who are ready to join the race for the 19-year-old striker.
With Joel Campbell, Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo all being linked with moves away from the Emirates, Arsene Wenger could step up his interest in Keita in January.
Balde Diao Keita was snatched from Barcelona, where he had impressed playing for club’s youth sides, and he quickly proved his worth at Stadio Olimpico.
The forward has so far amassed 28 Serie A appearances and has scored 5 goals in the process.
