The English press has revealed that Samir Nasri’s move to Arsenal is all but done. The 20 year old winger has had a medical and agreed a four year deal with the Gunners which he will sign once the player will be released from the French training camp, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 20 year old winger is considered to be one of the most promising players in Ligue 1 where he made 121 appearances for Olympique Marseille. He is also due to be called up to the French national team for the upcoming European Championships, though it remains to be seen whether he will play a major role in his country’s campaign.

The imminent arrival of Samir Nasri to the Emirates Stadium will have also been welcomed by Alexander Hleb who is looking for a way out of London after Europe’s top teams have announced an interest in him. With his replacement there and ready, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger might be more willing to let go of the Belarusian winger should an offer come along.

Inter Milan, Real Madird and Barcelona are all rumoured to be interested, but the Daily Mirror reckons that he will join the Italian champions.

  9. kasasa Daniel on May 24th, 2008 17:08

Wenger should go for martin and other experienced players if we are to compete with other big team next season.we are tired of escorting other teams in the leag

  10. adekola on May 24th, 2008 17:51

wneger should go 4big player instead of small once

  11. David on May 24th, 2008 18:03

I hope Nasri signs, which will hope to strengthen the team. However, they need to spend some more on quality players. Hope they sign Ben Arfa, Veloso, a good central defender and maybe a striker. Wenger needs to be spending big this time around. Hleb, i am really surprised that he wants to leave after all the support that AFC and the fans give him. Where else will he have this support, certainly not at Real Madrid or Inter or for that matter any other European team? He is making a mistake

  12. Akin on May 24th, 2008 18:47

    Arsenal should buy big now.

  17. Andrei Dobrogeanu on May 25th, 2008 0:29

I guess he would be asked for an audition, but then who wants to hear Nasri sing?

“We are les championnnes/ no time pour les losers/ becoz we are les championnes/ Ouiiiii!!”

  19. caolan ferry on May 25th, 2008 9:37

i think nasriis a great sighing for arsenal and all we need now is ben afra on the other wing

  20. Austin on May 25th, 2008 10:50

Wenger really has to spend this summer for Arsenal to compete with the top 4.I like the whole idea about Nasri going to the Emirates but we need more players,we need a good finisher, like Karlim Benzema, and David Villa, plus other deffenders.

  21. Shaan on May 25th, 2008 13:06

A close and reliable source has told me we are ready to swoop for Newcastles Obafemi Martins after Kevin Keegan revealed that he may consider selling the striker.

All Arsenal fans in Nigeria are not happy at the moment becos of what is going on at Emirate.
We held several meetings in a view to delegating some poeple to meet with Arsene on the way forward after the lose of Flamini. I hope Arsene is reading this becos we are not happy at all with the so called Arsenal policy. Arsene should wake-up to the reality of the inflation of modern days football transfer activities as an Economics Graduate . A situation where stars will be grown in Arsenal and sold becos of our out dated policy will not be tolerated again. To that effect, Arsene should makesure nothing happen to Hleb, Cese, Adedayor at al. Players like J. Djoru, Senderouse, Hoyte possible Bentner canb sold not the good ones.
At this point, Arsene should as a matter of urgency settle all contratual disaggreement btw Hleb, Fabregas, Adebayor and co. He should remeber he promised all Arsenal fans that 98% of the team is staying together.
Also good players like Ben Arfa, Samir Nasir, Obafemi Matins, Yaya Toure and a solid central defender with good ariel height be recriuted into the team so that we have a record season next season not just playing fantastic football for nothing.
    Long Live Arsene
    Long Live Arsenal
    Long Live Gunners Fans
    Long Live Nigeria

Arsenal is a big club, it should not be run like Bolton or Derby county with all due respect. Players should be paid good wages the way their colleagues are be paid in Man-u, Chelsea, liverpool, Real m. etc

  24. Olasubomi.S on May 26th, 2008 13:00

There are a few things we need to understand about AW & AFC mgt.
Is it really really true AW’s given money for players and he returns it or he’s not given money at all? If the former is true then no one else other than AW is to blame for the trophless seasons!
I wish he defies that notion this time round and gets appropriate players in defence (RF, JT type), defensive midfield, wingers capable of delivering decent passes as well as scoring (- Eboue does more of complaining than playing), and 2 Torres-like strikers, then surely Ars FC will be a team to beat come next compaign.

But if the reports (by Fiz… - c/man) on transfer policy are anything to go by, AFC shouldn’t look beyond being 4th or at best 3rd in the EBL!
Modern football dictates that the best will always be secured at a cost, period.

  27. Akin on June 1st, 2008 18:57

Arsene WENGER shld pls buy established players.good central defenders,we need them badly.gunners 4 life.

  28. Efosa on June 2nd, 2008 13:28

i’m more inclined 2 comment more out of concern than 4 d interest in Arsenal(which is dwindling seriously)dat i’ve had since ‘98.Can somebody please ask AW why ‘keeping young talents’ is more important 2 him than winning trophies?.I was under the impression dat young players do not tire as quickly as older ones but look @ how fatigue cost OUR team some trophies last season or are they just young without much experience?.AW stop advaertising players 4 other clubs who’d eventually buy ‘em,put yo’ money down and stock up ur artellery………21 gun sallutin’ u dig!!!!!!

  29. Zlatan on June 3rd, 2008 14:30

No one should be telling Wnger what to do! He is the best coach ever and knows how to do his job, but he just didn’t have any luck regarding all of the injuries in the team throughout the season. So…shut up everybody!

    Arsenal rules!

  30. Badmus shakirudeen on June 3rd, 2008 23:29

I tnk wenger is a quality coach.he knows wt he is doin, let him continu makin his signin.i jst pray dt they are wel extablish experience playr.gunners 4 life

  31. gaylord focker on June 4th, 2008 3:54

This is so Arsene-like. For some reason, that old-fart just loves to sign crappy arse players.. no wonder why they’ve not won a title for so d@mn long. If you ever want Arsanal to win Prem / Champions League ever again, please get rid of the stupid old fart, get rid of Arsene Wenger!

  32. nash on June 5th, 2008 14:19

it does not matter who they buy. Man utd got the up and coming next best player in the world, Anderson. Once we get huntelaar, we gonna be unstoppable!

    United for life!!!

  33. Prathik on June 11th, 2008 16:34

what do u think if Wenger signs Berbatov ,i think he and adebayor will booost arsenals’ attacking force!!!!

  34. idris on June 24th, 2008 10:36

I think wenger should do us afovour and let the wasteful ade go for such a credible amount to bring in two prolific strikers in Villa and Podoskic so that clubs can give us the respect that we deserve . coz adebayo scores hatrics on dabe but gets no respect from teams like blackburn, united , chelsea and we need a person that can injure those sides.

  35. jonas DK on June 25th, 2008 13:14

Nasri will be an excellent for the Gunners, but they should probably sign a few more quality players if they want to challenge United and chelsea next season.

  36. Kandre on July 3rd, 2008 21:55

What AW need to do is sign a strong central defender like Richards at city or why not Pepe from Real M. And to replace Flamini we should bring Senna or Yaya Toure. When we have 3 big strikers in Bendtner, Adebayor, Van Persie we really need someone with high speed and skills on the ball, so why not bring in one of these names Arshavin, Podolski, Villa, Martins or Robiniho. To complete the team we need to replace Almunia with a young keeper like the Russian keeper (can`t spell the name) or Isaksson from man city. That should bring the titles home. To gain the economic strength we need to bring that big names, AW should sell Senderos, Gilberto, Almunia, Adebayor, and if we sell Hleb why not replace him with Silva from Valencia. Adebayor is a god striker but we should remember that he just performed last season and we can`t relay on the fact that he will do it this season again. So why not sell him now when we can get a god price. And finally we should always remember that we have a lot of talent in the squad and some of them will have a big breakthrough this year (Walcott, Bendtner, Song, Ramsey, Denilson and Nasir).

Gunners are going to fly this campaign!

  37. nathaniel on July 8th, 2008 18:19

i think i like what manager wenger is doing right now but i think he should go for a world class attacker like obafemi martins to increse the strength of the team.

  38. Bidhali Anthony on July 10th, 2008 14:54

I hope with the coming of Nasri he will fit to the stand wanderfull football that Arsenal players play is going to be a team that will supprise the english teams unbelievable leading to sucess and nice play.

  39. Temi on July 11th, 2008 18:42

Its a good thing we could get Nasri, now that its al but certain hleb wil leave(goin 2 mis his excitin dribbles though).what we need right now is one or two proven strikers like martins and santa cruz.a good defensive midfielder..senna.if we do dis,dis season wil definitely not b barren.

  40. john on July 12th, 2008 12:38

For all you gooners out there let me speak for every single scouser in the world. By the way this has nothing to do with the topic. If you dickheads sign gareth barry it will go down as one of the most scum baggy asshole moves of the past decade and probably even more. Who does arsene wenger think he is?!

  41. yash on July 24th, 2008 9:35

Arsenal need 2 more players. A good striker and a holding midfielder. More players would just disrupt the team. Let Adebayor go and bring in Eto’o!

Got something to say?
