Arsenal target cools off transfer talk; Borussia chief denies Kagawa set to join Manchester United

Arsenal target cools off transfer talk

Lille midfielder Gervinho admits he has yet to make a decision regarding his future, amidst heavy interest from abroad.

The Ivory Coast international was instrumental in helping Lille win domestic double this season and he has attracted a lot of interest from big European clubs in the process.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Everton and Newcastle are all keen and a move to the Premiership look on the cards after the player hinted that England would be his next destination.

However, Gervinho now admits that he may remain at Stade Lille Metropole after all.

“Whether I stay or go, everyone will know later,” Gervinho was quoted as saying by L’Equipe.

“Between staying and leaving there is always a choice. I have one year contract and we are still in discussions.

”What is certain is that I will either extend the contract or leave the club.”

The 24-year-old forward was widely tipped by the in play betting specialists to leave the club this summer, but it seems that Lille’s impressive season has made him change his mind.

“We have just won two titles, there is the Champions League…

”Lille are a very big project that will interest many people. It can make people want to stay.”

Borussia chief denies Kagawa set to join Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc has moved to deny speculations linking Shinji Kagawa with a move to Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly keen on the Japan international, with Kagawa’s recent statements only adding fuel to the transfer talk.

The Borussia Dortmund star yesterday stated that he would be interested in joining Manchester United, but club general manager Michael Zorc says that the forward will remain at Signal Iduna Park.

“Kagawa’s sale is not an issue. Ferguson can save the money,” Zorc told Bild.

“Our ambition is to extend Shinji’s contract. We will discuss everything with him in piece when he returns from holiday.”

Asked if Borussia will try to sign Miroslav Klose, Zorc replied:

“No. Because Barrios, Lewandowski and Zidan are placed very well in attack. These three strikers have quality.

”We also prefer a system in which only one of them can play. It makes no sense to sign another striker.”

The Borussia official believes that Bayern Munich are still the favorites for next Bundesliga title.

“Before every season Bayern are title favouites, Nr.1. When they were not champions in the past they have heavily reinforced.

”We must not be judged only by the games against Bayern – we only play them twice per season.”

Guardado welcomes Sporting interest

Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Andres Guardado has welcomed an interest from Sporting Lisbon.

The Lions are looking to build a squad capable of fighting for domestic titles with Porto and Benfica and they have already started the summer recruitment.

Following the signing of striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Utrecht, Sporting Lisbon have shown interest in Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Andres Guardado.

Deportivo are looking to cash in on the Mexico international after getting relegated from La Liga, but they are reportedly asking for €10 million.

The player himself admits that he is honoured by an interest from such a big club.

“I am aware of what was said in the press but only remotely as I am concentrating on the national team,” Guardado told A Bola.

“I do not know of anything concrete but it is my manager who handles these things. Anyway, I am obviously glad to know that a club like Sporting want me.”

“It is a big club in Portugal and it is clear that I would like to go to Sporting.

The Mexico international says he would like to help Sporting close the gap behind their rivals on domestic stage.

”I know that in recent years it has been a little behind FC Porto and Benfica, so I would enjoy helping Sporting reach the first place in Portuguese football and do interesting things.”

Gervinho should come to the rescue of Arsenal’s strikers problem. The only world class striker in the Gunners side is RVP who is injury-prone. He hardly play half of the season, though he has a lethargic scoring prowess.

    N. Bendtner is too soft and non-skillful that he cannot even dislodge little and smallish Walcott-who does not have more than speed also.

Arshavin is extremely too short to be a striker. Put him abreast of Andy Carroll, Torres, Anelka, Crouch, etc

So, Gervinho will stroll into Arsenal strikers’ pack without hitch.’
