Arsenal to keep hold of Chambers

Southampton have failed in their attempts to re-sign defender Calum Chambers on loan from Arsenal, according to the Mirror.

The twenty year old moved to the Emirates Stadium in last summer, and has since played thirty-six times for Arsene Wenger’s side, scoring his one and only goal for the side in a 3-0 win over Burnley back in November.

He made just six league appearances in 2015 suggesting that he may be surplus to requirements with the Gunners, though Wenger is keen on keeping hold of the England international.

He has three caps for his country, having made his debut in a 1-0 friendly victory over Norway in September 2014.

Prior his move to North London, Chambers played twenty-five times for the Saints before leaving along with a number of his teammates twelve months ago.

Southampton kick of the 2015/16 campaign with a trip to Newcastle United, with the away win priced at 13/10.
