Arsenal have taken Caen’s teenage sensation M’Baye Niang on trial, a decision slammed by the French side’s coach Patrice Garande.
The 17-year-old made his professional debut for the Ligue 1 side in April 2011, and has since gone on to score five goals in 30 appearances, but was unable to save the club from relegation last season.
With Newcastle and Stoke also thought be interested, it appears the Gunners have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals by offering the striker a trial at the Emirates this week, much to Garande’s disapproval.
“What I say in relation to him is simple, he has talent – yes. Does he have the potential to make a career? Yes,” Garande told Sky Sports.
“But is he doing the right thing for this at the moment? No.”
When questioned as to whether he’d use the starlet next season, Garande was blunt with his response, adding: “If he is here I will count on him, he leaves tomorrow we won’t.”
