AS Roma agree €28m deal for Franck Kessie

Il Corriere dello Sport understands AS Roma have finally found an agreement with Atalanta for the purchase of Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie.

The Giallorossi have had a €28 million offer accepted by their Serie A rivals and are now putting finishing touches on the deal taking the highly rated footballer to Stadio Olimpico.

There were few more top clubs interested in Kessie, but AS Roma were the quickest and most concrete, securing the signature of one of league’s hottest prospects.

The 20-year-old is expected to act as a long-term successor to Radja Nainggolan, who is widely expected to leave in the summer transfer window.

Kessie has enjoyed a dream debut season in Italian Serie A, scoring 6 goals in 24 matches to help Atalanta climb to fifth in the overall standings.

The central midfielder also represented Ivory Coast at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, starting three matches at tournament finals.
