Ashley Cole nears Roma exit

English defender Ashley Cole is again being linked with a January move away from Stadio Olimpico, Tuttosport can reveal.

The veteran defender has struggled to prove his worth at the start of his career in Italy, despite featuring in seven of ten competitive fixtures.

Cole seems to be struggling to adapt to the new surroundings and everything suggests he will be offloaded as early as January.

It is no secret the former England international is keen on a move to the MLS, where he’s got plenty of admirers, and it is highly unlikely the Giallorossi will stand in his way.

While summer signing Jose Holebas is seen as a decent option at left-back, Roma plan to sign another left-sided defender in the winter, with Adriano Correia and Manuel Pasqual on their wish list.

The Giallorossi will be desperate to make amends for the heavy loss to Bayern Munich when they face Sampdoria away in Serie A, and Roma are 1/1 to end Samp’s unbeaten run.
