Ashley eyeing move for Ings

The Daily Star understands that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is keen on taking Burnley’s Danny Ings to Rangers, should the win promotion back to the Scottish top flight this season.

Ashley is a stakeholder in the Glasgow club, and is lining up an audacious move for the Clarets talisman, who has had impressive start to life as a Premier League player.

The 22 year old former Bournemouth man has hit four goals in his last seven games for Sean Dyche’s men though he was unable to help them maintain their recent unbeaten run as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon.

The result saw Burnley slip back in to the bottom three of the Premier League ahead of next weekend’s home match against high-flying Southampton, who have also been linked with a move for Ings in recent weeks.
