According to Sky Sports, Everton’s Ashley Williams is set to arrive at Stoke City’s training ground in order to complete his medical prior to a proposed move to the Championship club. Williams, 33, has spent the last two years of his career at Goodison Park after he moved from Swansea City. Now, however, it seems as if the free-spending Potters are prepared to give him another shot at gaining promotion back to the big-time.
Williams has been experiencing a slow decline in the eyes of many for a while now, and a move down to the second tier could hand him the opportunity to reinvigorate his career. Stoke, meanwhile, are slowly putting together a ‘Championship super-team’ of sorts, and continue to lead the way as one of the clear favourites for promotion.
Everton recently secured the purchase of Lucas Digne as they attempt to bolster their defence prior to the start of the season.
