Aston Villa ponder swoop for Badelj

Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj has become the subject of interest from Premier League side Aston Villa, Sport Mediaset has suggested.

The Villans were very active in the summer transfer window, adding a number of quality players to their ranks, but they are expected to further reinforce the squad in January following the disappointing start to the new campaign.

According to Sport Mediaset, Aston Villa are keeping close tabs on Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj and could soon come forward with an official proposal for his services.

The Croatia international joined Viola last summer from Hamburg and he had a somewhat slow start to his career in Italy, making 21 league appearances during his first season.

Badelj’s status at Artemio Franchi improved with the arrival of Paulo Sousa and he in turn started four Serie A matches this term.

Having climbed to the league summit with a 4-1 triumph over Inter Milan, Fiorentina are 5/6 to defeat Belenenses on the road in tomorrow’s Europa League fixture.
