Highly-rated German teenager Atakan Akkaynak has been the talk of the town lately following some rather impressive showings for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
The German under-19 international is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the Bundesliga and is widely touted to move to a bigger stage in the near future.
The 18-year-old central midfielder has been under the watchful eye of several European top sides over the past couple of months, most notably Chelsea and Barcelona who have emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign the talented player.
Akkaynak is yet to play a single first-team game for Bayer Leverkusen but his talents have not been unnoticed and it seems as if he could be leaving Germany as early as January.
The German gem is under contract with his club until 2019 but Leverkusen are said to be willing to cash in on Akkaynak as they don’t have enough financial power to compete with some of Europe’s strongest sides.
