Athletic Bilbao have announced the signing of Ander Herrera on their official website.
Los Leones have agreed a deal to take Real Zaragoza midfielder to San Mames next summer, with the player already signing a five-year deal.
“Real Zaragoza CAD and Athletic Club have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Ander Herrera’s rights from former to latter club, which becomes official on 1st July 2011,” read the statement.
“For his part, the player has signed a contract with Athletic Club from season 2011/2012 to season 2015/2016, as a professional footballer, with the buyout clause of 36 million euros for the first three seasons and 40 million euros for the final two.”
Athletic will €8.5 million for the 21-year-old, while Zaragoza could earn another €2.5 million in performance related bonuses.
The transfer was also announced on Zaragoza’s official website.
