Atletico line up Falcao to replace Kun Aguero; Anelka’s agent hints at MLS move

Atletico line up Falcao to replace Kun Aguero

Atletico Madrid have singled out Porto striker Radamel Falcao Garcia as the perfect replacement for wantaway forward Kun Aguero.

The Argentine is desperate to leave Vicente Calderon this season and following his impressive performances at the Copa America, he should have no problems finding a new club.

That will obviously leave a big gap to fill at Atletico but los Colchoneros have already found a perfect replacement for the diminutive striker.

According to Marca, Atletico Madrid are ready to bid for Porto striker Radamel Falcao Garcia, who they believe would be more than capable of filling Aguero’s shoes.

The Colombian striker is one of the most sought-after players in world football at the moment, so Atletico could face stiff competition from big European clubs.

Falcao has a €30 million release clause inserted in his contract and there is no way Porto would accept any offer below that figure.

However, the problem is that Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is eager to get reunited with the prolific striker and it is highly unlikely that the player would choose Atletico over Chelsea.

Should they fail with their bid to sign Falcao, Atletico could turn to Villarreal forward Giuseppe Rossi.

Anelka’s agent hints at MLS move

The agent of Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka has revealed that the Blues have yet to receive any offers for the Frenchman.

The 32-year-old forward could be sold this summer so as to make way for new signings and he has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and a host of MLS sides.

His representative, Michael Wiesenfeld failed to rule out a move to MLS.

“No MLS club has expressed an interest in him,” Wiesenfeld told France Football.

“If we try to think rationally, LA Galaxy is not an option. They have three high profile players – David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Juan Pablo Angel – and thus reached the quota imposed by the MLS.

Wiesenfeld, nevertheless, admitted that a move to New York Red Bulls would be a more feasible option.

“With regard to the New York Red Bulls, they have Henry and Marquez. There remains a place for a (high-profile) player, as Dwayne De Rosario was transferred to DC United.”

Palermo aim to keep hold of Italy international

Palermo president Maurcio Zamparini has rejected speculations that keeper Salvatore Sirigu will leave the club this summer.

The Italy international has rejected a new contract offer from the Rossanero, adding fuel to speculations that he will leave Renzo Barbera this summer.

Arsenal and Roma are some of the club linked to the 24-year-old keeper, but Palermo president is adamant that Sirigu will not be sold.

“We promised him a new deal which would see his present wages doubled,” Zamparini told TeleRadioStereo.

“We kept that promise. At the minute there is no agreement, but his contract isn’t set to expire soon so I don’t understand why we should sell him.”

The player currently earns around €250,000 per season, but he is reportedly holding out for €800,000.

Palermo recently rejected a bid from Genoa for his services, while Atletico Madrid and Schalke also showed interest in the Italy international.
